LIFE IN A WORD
by Laila Ghattas
Some people like to find words that define a theme to focus on each new year.
I had to let go of my original tailor and return to Bali to find a new, much more suitable option in order to keep my new venture going.
Some relationships were redefined and made space for new people who are aligned with my way of life.
After spraining my ankle end of last summer, I had to let go of speed and efficiency in order to heal well.
Rather than focusing on wholesale venues for my clothing line, I went into the field and discovered what women want from their clothes and how my line is fulfilling that. It was also a lot of fun being so hands on finding the exact right fit for women from the new collections.
This year when I thought about a theme, the word that came naturally to my lips was EASIER.
Last year was very difficult as well as rich. Releasing what no longer is working as an ongoing process was tough. And rewarding.
This year, I wanted things to be easier on every level.
To my ongoing amazement, since January 1, everything coming my way has proven easier.
Client referrals are flowing in with ideally suited, open hearted personal growth seekers. Working together, miracles of insight and perception shifts are unfolding.
With almost no effort, my home was rented for the time I'm going to be away in Bali.
De-cluttering closets in readiness for tenants staying in my home while I’m in Bali has proven smooth and deeply satisfying, while passing along my goods to charity.
Desperately needed Web design and marketing help blossomed from a casual conversation, with a willingness to barter services.
Clothing clients are calling asking to purchase more of their favourite styles. Testimonials are rolling in.
Even when in stressful situations, I’m feeling my self-support move in firmly and the reminder that all is working out steadies my ground.
I don’t want to deal with grey hair roots anymore and am letting my natural colour (or lack of it!) come through. That’s much easier than colouring every few weeks!
My glasses broke at the bridge and Loblaws Optical gave me a brand new pair, and one of their staff had a way of effectively fixing the favoured pair I thought I’d never wear again.
I decided after putting far too much energy promoting the Bali retreat last year, to try a new approach, asking people to come in clusters rather than take individual registrations. Just today a recent Bali retreat client who loved the new video offered to help me promote the March 1-4, 2017 retreat in her circle. Easy.
While wondering about the appeal of a retreat focusing on Self Love, an incredible letter written by Einstein to his daughter crossed my path, talking about Love being the greatest power in the universe. Complete affirmation.
Why is this happening?
Some say January has all the planets moving forward in one direction giving us all astrological buoyancy and momentum in pursuing our dreams and desires with ease and support. That fits for me.
Some might say when you don’t resist what is, more of what you want can flow into your life. That fits too.
Others say when you put your mind on something, and expect it, the Universe brings the solutions you seek to manifest it. That works.
I've heard many say 2017 is going to be a much better year than 2016. My challenges last year are what have set me up for receiving all these current wonderful helpful advantages.
The beauty of these lovely experiences is how they strengthen, stretch and fully expand my expectation for more of the same. Real confidence boosting.
That just feels so GOOD!
It’s the most wonderful way to keep grounded in the face of inevitable challenges.
My appreciation for such a bright shiny start to the year is profound.
Blessings are everywhere.
My wish is that you’re finding that your own well is filling up with gifts.
What’s your word for 2017?
